Description
- Hops (Humulus Lupulus) herbaceous bine (in the norther hemisphere the plant wraps clockwise vs counterclockwise in the southern hemisphere) with horizontal and vertical roots, loves full sun, and tolerant to over watering.
- Growing zones which the plant is known to grow are 3a-12, if exposed to warmer climates year round your hop plant will avoid going into dormancy; if exposed to colder climates your plant will act as a perennial and go dormant, but don’t worry when it gets warmer your plant will break out of dormancy.
- This plant is great for many purposes: decorative garden arch trellis, making beer, homeopathic medicine, textiles, or bioactive molecule farming.
- Hops are very resilient plants, their lifespans may exceed 15 years with proper care; the root architecture of the plant will generally plunge down to 15ft into the soil.
- To ensure the survival of your plant be sure be sure to water daily to encourage root development of your plant, to overwinter make sure to cover with hay, woodchips, or mulch to protect your plant from freezing. Once your plant is established your plant will thrive the following year.
- The hops plant you are purchasing may be a mixed variety of hops plants that I grow in my hop yard which are: crystal eroica, triple perle, cashmere, teamaker, and brambling. A mixed variety in your grow will ensure good health and pest resiliency.
